INTERVIEW: NewMusicBoom Interview With “Catrica“

Hello! I’m Morgan, and I’m from America. I go by the artist name “catrica”. Catrica was basically a name I thought of due to my obsession and love for cats. I often would talk about being in a “cat land” named Catrica where all cats roam around. 😊

Q. What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
A.
I guess being someone who’s swarmed my whole life in music is what made me get more and more into it. Ever since I was younger, I’d just sing all the time, and I grew fascinated with learning different instruments like the violin, guitar, ukulele, and piano. I began to realize it was my chosen path when I found myself allowing my emotion and life relate in a form of music.

Q. Tell us about your new music (Song/EP/Mixtape/Album)? And what’s the story behind it?
A. My latest Song/Single, gold about heartbreak and love. It’s about a constant cycle between star-crossed lovers who cannot be together due to unfortunate circumstances. Though there is an attempt to “make things right”, the chance has been used up too many times, which allows for a discontinuation of the two lover’s journey.

Q. What makes your music unique? How would you describe it? (genres/sub-genres)
A. I’d say my music is unique because it comes straight from the brain and heart, and matches exactly what I’m feeling in the moment. I fall more within the alternative and soft genre, however I’m very open minded and interested in exploring more pathways!

Q. Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
A. I’d say my biggest influence is mxmtoon, chevy, and limbo. I love these artists so much and I’d love to collaborate with them in the future sometime soon.

Q. How long have you been in the music industry?
A. I haven’t been in it quite long. I’ve mostly been on the down low with my music, keeping it to myself. I didn’t start expressing it until just recently.

Q. Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of? (awards, projects or public performances etc.
A. Well, I am a violinist and I play in an orchestra. So, the best moment I have had is within it as it’s one of the instruments I’m mainly passionate and proud of. I gain these feelings mostly through my performances presented to audiences, etc.

Q. How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
A. It’s honestly not too hard as I don’t let music control my life too much. I sing and play music whenever I find it necessary or when it’s a perfect time of the day.

Q. What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
A. Honestly, just don’t be afraid to express yourself and sing what’s on your mind. Music is art, and there is no good or bad in it. It’s what you make it.

Q. What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
A. I’ll mostly just continue to release music and keep uploading songs whenever I feel like it. I hope to continue and grow. 😊
